YarnCalculators is a small, independent site with free calculators for knitters and crocheters.
It started with one line that stops a lot of people mid-project: “increase evenly across the row.” The pattern tells you what to do but not where. So we built a calculator that writes the row out for you, then added the other questions that come up again and again: how many chains to start a blanket, and how much of a different yarn to buy.
How we keep the math right
- Every increase and decrease result is recounted before it’s shown, so the stitches you work and the stitches you end with always match.
- The increase and decrease calculator has been tested against hundreds of thousands of stitch combinations.
- Yarn amounts are clearly marked as estimates. Your own tension, fiber and swatch always win.
Tell us when something looks off
Every calculator has a “Was this answer right?” box. If a result doesn’t match your project, tell us the numbers you used and we’ll check it. You can also reach us on the contact page.
